SONY Cybershot E:61:00 ERROR

Pepito Posted Jun 13, 2006, in response to:anonymous

Hello I have the Cybershot DSC-T1 and got the error E:61.00. Since Sony is so expensive to repair, I decided to buy another camera. However, after reading the crazy solution offered by some in this forum, I thought what do I have to lose... So I banged the lense with my finger while the camera was off and it did not work. I then decided to drop it while off, on a soft rug and did not work either. Finally, I thought, what the heck, and turned it on. While it was "accessing" I banged the lense on my knee cap (it did not hurt and got rid of some of my frustration). The error message was gone!!! and I was able to focus, use the lense and take picutures!!!. Thanks for this Flinstone solution. Pepito

Oh my God! We use Sony DSC T10 for underwater photography, and today the camera got a hard bang against the boat while ascending from a dive. On the next dive, the camera was showing the E:61:00 message, and was unable to focus or zoom. We then googled the error message. We followed the "instruction" in this thread, with slight skepticism. We started with a soft tap to the knee, without any results. 2nd time, we tried a bit harder, no results. 3rd timeĀ“s a charm! A harder bang led to a fully functioning camera again! :) Thanks!!

Sony won't fix it for free if they are getting paid to!! I have had my Cybershot DSC-P30 for over 7 years and it has worked perfectly up until now. It even was in the car when we had a head on car collision. A piece by the click button came off but it still worked perfectly. This trick worked after I hit it on my rug (my knee must not have been hard enough). It did start making a whirring noise when it is on but...it is taking pics again and I can live with that! Thanks Pepito, the advice might be 3 years old but it still works!

I totally did it too.. it 100% worked. I can't believe it. I appreciate the help. Crazy. Just be gentle and knock it on your thigh a little after taking out the battery and replacing it.... and it's now working flawlessly. Thanks!

Same error message, and for no reason. Hadn't dropped it or got sand in the lense. It just worked one minute and not the next! Tried this recommended fix a few times and so far to no avail. In fact it now seems to make a whirring noise when I turn the camera on. I've noticed that many people have talked about the extortionate repair cost if you take it to Sony, but surely if so many of us are having this same problem with the same model of camera then there's a flaw with the camera design itself. Sony must presumably have a duty under the warranty to replace or repair the camera.

My daughters camera came up with the E 61:00 error and wouldnt self focus. She had been to the beach recently. Anyways, I found this thread and thought, what the heck, so I banged it lightly, took the battery out, opened and closed it, banged it again. nothing... but then I really banged it hard and viola. It works, not error message and focuses perfect. Can't wait for my daughter to wake up and find out I fixed it.... Pretty scary to think banging this expensive camera is in fact what will fix it....

Oh my lord.! I really cant believe this. It was just minutes ago when I was reading your messages guys. i was sick and tired of my sony's cybershot e: 61:00. I went to the sony's service center and charged me too much. It was fixed and worked just for a week.! Then the 61:00 is back again. ( ridiculous ) isn't it ? Now, While I am at work at the same time reading all this. I cant wait to go on break to try banging it. Guess what ? It worked for the second time I banged it. ! For me it was an enticing moment. ! I was totally overwhelmed .! Thank you guys.! You rock. ! :) Russel ...... ( Philippines )
