Same error message, and for no reason. Hadn't dropped it or got sand in the lense. It just worked one minute and not the next! Tried this recommended fix a few times and so far to no avail. In fact it now seems to make a whirring noise when I turn the camera on. I've noticed that many people have talked about the extortionate repair cost if you take it to Sony, but surely if so many of us are having this same problem with the same model of camera then there's a flaw with the camera design itself. Sony must presumably have a duty under the warranty to replace or repair the camera.
