Home | Previous messageHello I have the Cybershot DSC-T1 and got the error E:61.00. Since Sony is so expensive to repair, I decided to buy another camera. However, after reading the crazy solution offered by some in this forum, I thought what do I have to lose... So I banged the lense with my finger while the camera was off and it did not work. I then decided to drop it while off, on a soft rug and did not work either. Finally, I thought, what the heck, and turned it on. While it was "accessing" I banged the lense on my knee cap (it did not hurt and got rid of some of my frustration). The error message was gone!!! and I was able to focus, use the lense and take picutures!!!. Thanks for this Flinstone solution. Pepito

The bang on the knee trick worked perfect. Turn it on and then turn it off and then bang it on your knee. The gentleman/woman who thought of this fix should get a job with sony. Very technical stuff. Unbelievable. It worked for me, too. We were in Playa del Carmen on the beach much of the week. Guess it had sand inside. Amazing. I have the same problem. After reading this I began to bang and hit the camera. My wife came into my office after hearing the noise to see what I was doing. It works, but does not resolve my problem everytime. Each time I turn it on, I get the same error. Now I've been using a hammer. Still, each time I turn it off and back on, I still need to hit it...harder each time. I have the same error, but whacking it doesn't seem to help. I've taken it apart almost entirely and didn't find any foreign objects. Any ideas? Turned the camera on this morning to find an E61 error message on my 1 week old Sony Cybershot DSC-T70, which suprised me as when I turned it off 8 hours earlier it was fine. Thought I would go online to check out if anyone else had a similar problem and to my surprise there were quite a few. Must admit I didn't really want to hit the lense with my knee, but couldn't be bothered to contact Sony so thought I'd give it a shot, turned the camera on, tapped the side of the camera near the lense with my knuckle and voila, it works! Job done, great post, thanks for the tip! One thought though, why the hell does it do it? My error sadi E61:10, so I was afraid this wouldn't work. Well, I tried the smack on the knee and nothing happened. Then I read further into some more of the replies and found the one about removing the batteries. So, I tried that. Removed the batteries, waited, replaced, turned on, smacked on knee. Bam, it works perfect now. Thanks, Todd Thanks...had the same problem with my wifes camera and your knee-banging solution works! Hey great...I had this problem too...Without doing anything I suddenly had an Error message....after using this method it works very well. Thanks a lot..so my gentleman concert is safed ;) Thanks and Greez it must have taken me 100 tries before this finally worked. don't be distressed like I was when the first 99 tries are unsuccessful, keep trying different surfaces and slowly increasing how hard you hit. also- i don't know that taking the battery out and waiting until it says "access" make any difference. you can just hit it while its off, with the battery out, might be safer. good luck. Hello, We just got back from vacation, and while on the beach sand got on the our Sony camera also, the sand thing seems to be a trend on these threads, we shook the camera and tried to clean off the sand, and also got the ERROR message like everyone else. We had our heart set on buying the new Sony and had one all picked out when we remembered to search the web to see if there was a solution to the error message. By golly, it works, I had tried shaking it a little before, because I had nothing lose, but if you access it and then shake or hit it a little, it comes back, Wish I new this I vacation, as I could have kept taking pictures. Amazing that this works, just keep your camera away from sand in the first place. Thanks, to all who have written. Randy |
