Home"The Petition": My family has a Sony Trinitron TV (Model Number KV-35V36) that was purchased in 1998. It too, like so many other of these TVs suddenly turned off and died. Over the years, we have bought many Sony products and have had little problems. However, this television "epidemic" is a major issue and one that must be dealt with and solved. Therefore, I propose this; ANYONE WHO HAS/HAD A PROBLEM WITH A SONY TRINITION TV, PLEASE POST YOUR NAME, MODEL AND SERIAL NUMBER ON THIS WEBSITE, WHERE I WILL PLACE THEM ON A PETITION TO BE E-MAILED/MAILED TO SONY. They might be able to ignore one of us, but they can't and WILL NOT ignore all of us. -Thank you

Hello, I have a 26 in Sony Trinitron I bought at Best Buy about 5 years ago. One day it would not turn on. I continued to press the on button and it sounded like it was trying to come on. so I kept pressing it every 20 seconds or so ater I heard it click off and suddenly it came on with a perfect picture. The only trouble is if you turn the set off, you have to go through the same ordeal again. There is a power switch that is bad. Model Number KV- 2000 model 37" went out 8/5/2008 red light blinking 7 times tv in like new condition WTF i hope sony @%^&%^$#@^* you get the point!!!!! Our 10-year-old Sony Trinitron would not turn on last night. No lights, no sound, nothing. The TV was working perfectly up until then. The set was only used moderately over 10 years, so it appears that Sony is not the "Tiffany's" of electronics they're made out to be. My 35" Sony Trinitron tv shut off 2 nights and it won't turn back on. Very Disappointing to say the least. I have been shopping around for a new tv and was glad I found this site to help me make the decision to NOT buy another Sony :( I have a Sony Triniton & the picture tube went out. I was thinking about replacing the picture because I am a Computer Service Technician. I enjoy this kind of work. It is like a hobby. I will support your petition. The model number is KG-27EXR20. And the Serial number is 7055253. It was manufactured in March 1992. If you have any information about previous repair issues and/or discount parts associated with this model, please email me with the details. My TV is only 4 years old, I paid good money for it. I went to turn it on one morning and nothing but a click and flashing light. We used a hair dryer on the D board and got it to come on. I have not turn it off since, letting it run 24 hrs. a day. This is no doubt costing me money, but other than not wanting to turn on it is fine what a waste. In this day a TV should last 10 years or more easy. Unless Sony comes through with something they lost my purchase of my new flat panel to replace their mistake. I have a sony trinitron too. It quit working one night, has never worked again! Very dissapointed, because the tv was great, had a great pic and everything, 27 inches. Now its just taking up space. I've had my Sony since Dec. 1997. It's worked perfectly--no problems until today. When you turn the tv on, it has a picture for about 1 min. then it goes to gray to black. Good sound. My husband has his tv from college over 20 years old and I have a tv from 1991 and they both work fine and get used quite a bit. Don't want to pay mega bucks to fix an out dated model, but don't want to pay a lot for a new tv either. Same on/off problem with stand-by light blinking on a Sony Trinitron WEGA Model #KV-32HS500 (2002). Seems to be very common problem with their TV's. My Sony Trinitron Wega 32inch CRT model just died on me last night. It's just over 2 years old! My previous TV was a Granada ex-rental that had lasted over 20 years in total! |
