Home"The Petition": My family has a Sony Trinitron TV (Model Number KV-35V36) that was purchased in 1998. It too, like so many other of these TVs suddenly turned off and died. Over the years, we have bought many Sony products and have had little problems. However, this television "epidemic" is a major issue and one that must be dealt with and solved. Therefore, I propose this; ANYONE WHO HAS/HAD A PROBLEM WITH A SONY TRINITION TV, PLEASE POST YOUR NAME, MODEL AND SERIAL NUMBER ON THIS WEBSITE, WHERE I WILL PLACE THEM ON A PETITION TO BE E-MAILED/MAILED TO SONY. They might be able to ignore one of us, but they can't and WILL NOT ignore all of us. -Thank you

We Have a Sony Trinitron Wega KV-36HS510. It will randomly shut off and the indicator light will blink (Never the same amount of times). Sometimes I can turn the set right back on and it will work fine.... for a while. Other times it wont work again until it feels like it. I actually just got finished having a chat session with a Sony representative, who upon directly questioning him Denied that there have never been any issues with any of the Trinitron TV Models. His instructions for my problem were to unplug the set for 1 min and plug it back in...... Now I have had my set serviced twice each at the cost of $125.28. When I brought my set in for service, which was not easy since it weighs over 400lbs. The Service Man KNEW, he KNEW exactly what was wrong with our tv. He said that he has had to repair alot of them. It's the ICS RGL Circuit. It's not right that since they are a huge company that they can ignore this issue with their product!!! AND LIE ABOUT IT!!!!! I have the same issue with my SONY Trinitron KV35S66. The picture turns on and off by itself. This has been a common problem with this model since it was made. Why hasn't there been any support from SONY to their loyal customer base? I normally purchase SONY as a rule but not only has this TV been a disappointment but other SONY products have been also. I purchased some wireless head phones that lasted 16 months (just past warranty). I purchased a dvd player that lasted only 29 months, and I don't watch that many DVD's. Are we being trained to purchase extended warranties by SONY? An electronic item should last for quite a while in a clean environment. Things like this make you believe that substandard electronics are being sold as top end consumer prouducts. The hairdryer trick really works!!! It's worth a try. We have a KV-40XBR800 that had trouble turning on for a couple of weeks, then wouldn't turn on at all. We only got clicks and 6 blinks. After using the hairdryer on each side for 5 minutes each, the tv turned on and the picture is better than ever. Probably need to do it every six months as a preventative. Good Luck. We just saved $200+. I just got a POP and white flash on my black Sony Trinitron serial #7074087. Now it no longer turns on. Made in Sept 1993 and was working fine until this point! We are 100% Sony Device owners from PC to almost anything electronics and had never had any problems until my Sony KV-35545 quit on me. I tried to turn it on via remote and all i get is red light blinking. Frustrating needless to say. Gil Sony KV-32s45, just died...constant blinking stand-by light. Reset process had no effect. Is this now a boat anchor, or can it be reasonably repaired (assuming I can find anyone competent to come to the house to repair it). I have a sony trinitron kv36hs510 and have a similar problem. they should have a recall on this model alone. I agree, They should have a recall on all trinitrons My just died too, 1998 Sony Trinitron I noticed that in the warm weather the TV would come on but in the winter it would not. It was funny to see that people came up with the same fix I was using. Holding a blow dryer to the TV until it would come on. My family thought I was crazy but it worked. Everyone should take a picture of themselves with their blow dryers trying to turn on their EXPENSIVE Sony Trinitron. Supposedly one of the best TVs ever made. Post is on the Sony site to shame them into doing something for their loyal customers. This set obviously should have been recalled. Shame on you Sony. G.
