Sony Trinitron TVs

anonymous Posted Dec 31, 2004

"The Petition":

My family has a Sony Trinitron TV (Model Number KV-35V36) that was purchased in 1998. It too, like so many other of these TVs suddenly turned off and died. Over the years, we have bought many Sony products and have had little problems. However, this television "epidemic" is a major issue and one that must be dealt with and solved. Therefore, I propose this; ANYONE WHO HAS/HAD A PROBLEM WITH A SONY TRINITION TV, PLEASE POST YOUR NAME, MODEL AND SERIAL NUMBER ON THIS WEBSITE, WHERE I WILL PLACE THEM ON A PETITION TO BE E-MAILED/MAILED TO SONY. They might be able to ignore one of us, but they can't and WILL NOT ignore all of us. -Thank you

Model # KV32HS510 S/N 8028839 Purchased in 2004, sometimes the LED blinks 6 times, sometimes it blinks 4 times, sometimes it's 7. Occasionally it'll actually work after a week or two of being unplugged. Started after I plugged a Bluray DVD in the HDMI. Gonna get a new one and it won't be a Sony. First Sony screwed up Star Wars Galaxies and now this...

I have a Sony Trinitron KV-27V42. Purchased in 1998. It just recently started acting up. My daughter went to turn it on and it won't come on at all. You can hear it clicking as if it is trying to, but nothing happens and the standby blinking red light keeps flashing 3 short, 1 long. It has been through a few major moves, been dropped in one of those moves and is 12 yrs. old. I feel like we got our money's worth out of it. We had a good run! A little sentimental b/c this was the first tv my husband and I bought and we paid cash. We were so proud of ourselves. LOL! Oh, the hair dryer thing did NOT work for me.

I treat my Sony KV-32DX550 as price procession however, it has difficulty in powering-up every, when we on the TV set from green indicator goes to standby red indicator light and dies down. However a chance of a long wait till it is on operations and color are good. It is a daily hussle in starting up the TV, when i consulted a Technician to translate the problem, Most Sony TV experience same case and was advised to acquire either Sharp Aquos or Panasonic CRT Wide 32TV. May be Sony can provide us specific assistance how can we deal with this problem. Thank you. Jimboy Vinarao Tagaytay, Philippines

I purchased my Sony KV-32F13 approximately (6) years ago, Now when I turn it on the picture comes on then it immediately goes off. This cycle happens several times then eventualy stays on. The picture color is very green. Anything that is supposed to be blue is now Green and the little red light blinks (5) times continously until I turn off the T.V. Francis

I have a Sony Trinitron which I purchased less than 4 years ago and it is now switching off and on continually. I can watch the t.v. for around an hour then I'd better be done watching whatever it is I'm watching 'cause the t.v. will no longer stay on. This is the first Sony brand t.v. that I've purchased and I honestly doubt I will ever purchase another Sony again.

The hair dryer technique just worked on my 20-year old Sony KV-27EXR15, which suddenly wouldn't turn on after 20 years. Maybe I should apply the hair dryer to the Zenith that I abandoned several years ago for the same problem! Thanks!
