Home"The Petition": My family has a Sony Trinitron TV (Model Number KV-35V36) that was purchased in 1998. It too, like so many other of these TVs suddenly turned off and died. Over the years, we have bought many Sony products and have had little problems. However, this television "epidemic" is a major issue and one that must be dealt with and solved. Therefore, I propose this; ANYONE WHO HAS/HAD A PROBLEM WITH A SONY TRINITION TV, PLEASE POST YOUR NAME, MODEL AND SERIAL NUMBER ON THIS WEBSITE, WHERE I WILL PLACE THEM ON A PETITION TO BE E-MAILED/MAILED TO SONY. They might be able to ignore one of us, but they can't and WILL NOT ignore all of us. -Thank you

I turned off the tv one evening and the next morning, the tv would not turn on. I have the same TV... bought it maybe in 1999. It would just turn off, then when you tried to turn it back on, the standby light would just blink and it wouldn't come back on. I was able to get it repaired for $120.00 and it works fine now, it was something called a sweep circuit that went bad. Funny thing is that when we were hauling ours to the shop, someone else was loading thiers back up that had the same defect. The repair guy said he does tons of repairs on those TV's but once you fix them, they are really good TV's. same issues model kv 35s36 power loss and tv death on 10 yr old set on mothers tv. She had repair estimate of $350. why sink that much into it when you dont know how much longer it will last???? Sony needs to man up and handle this situation. If anyone has come up with a cheaper fix then please email me. Anyone know of replacement parts site to get a new power supply for these sets at a reasonable cost? I purchased my sony triniton TV from my brother not more than 6 months ago. I believe he purchased the TV for him self around 98 or 99 and has had no problem with it in the time he had it. Now today my kids were watching their cartoons and the thing just went off. The power/timer light will blink and turn off for a few seconds and go right back to blinking. No sound no picture or anything. Is this similar to something anyone else has dealt with?? Since we only paid $200 for the TV I am really hoping that it will be something cheap to fix otherwise I know it will be time to invest in the big screen my husband has been trying to talk me into for a year. This is an add-on to my above reply simply stated with year/model/serial#. Further info: When turning power on, the standby red light would flash continuously, the tv picture would appear then flutter, go to half screen then disappear entirely with sound only. Am trashing the tv because of age and cost to repair, as a gift to my elderly parent, I have a spare tv in the house ready to hook up for him. I was already familiar with this problem having happened to my sony 27" Wega which was only 9 months old. I repaired it because it was so new. I placed the purchase on a credit card which doubled the warranty, the parts warranty still standing, I recouped $165 of the $225 it took to repair it, and this was some years ago! I have a rule of thumb in my house, if any appliance is close to ten years old and goes on the fritz, I replace it. As this happened to two individuals in the same family,(my brother-in-law) stills owns a newer model 1998 and it's still working. Only time will tell. Shame on Sony. Beautiful pictures but the standby mode to power the tv on is a bad feature! They need to redesign. Won't buy a Sony next time either! September 1997 Sony Trinitron Model KV-27526 Ser#8050741 My Sony Trinitron shut down and will not restart. If this is a common problem/failure, there should be some responsibility by Sony to issue a recall for repair. As an owner of various Sony products I would not standby any product or manufacture which suggests to ignore consumer issues. hi (Model# KV-27VV6, 27" WEGA)Today is Oct.24/2007, 3 days ago my T.V. made a clicking sound and suddenly shut down. I turned it back on and after 30 seconds it went back off (It did this 2 more times after). I then switched power supplies (sockets) and plucked it into my computer's power bar. It worked for about 16 hrs and hasn't come back on since. I heard you can try unplugging them for 36hrs then plug them back in and the power comes back on. I just came home and plugged the power back in. It won't turn on!!! I always thought "SONY" was a top of the line T.V. manufacturer?????I am extremely disapointed. I payed over a $1000 for this T.V. about 7 years ago. I hope "SONY" gets to hear our "FRUSTRATIONS". Sony Trinitron KV-K25, Same problem :- Picture started jumping sporatically, but would settle down then it started going into stand-by mode intermittantly & would not re start. Now when I try to switch it on, it just goes back to stand-by mode after a few seconds. |
