    Hi Aaron: Well, there are two"fixes" available..... My quick fix is: 1. Hold camera firmly in left hand 2. Smartly rap front of camera with knuckles of right hand on the "Cyber-shot" logo. For the info that Eric has provided, that requires you to open the camera, send your e-mail address to BobA5835-at-Yahoo-dot-com. Bob

      I can't believe it. My wife's camera had this white screen phenomena. I thought it was broken for sure. So I found your fix on the web. Wow! Tried it - and it worked. Big thanks! Saved me buying another camera.

  Bob ... your fix worked for me too ! Google search is a wonderful thing ;o) I was getting just as far as everyone else with Sony support. They sent me a link to the support site where I was greeted with the $111 service fee. Thanks again and Happy New Year!

  I am so grateful with you Bob.I am lucky to find this discussion forum.I had the same trouble, expensive to repair here. My cybershot is working again.Now you are worlwide famous.I live in Lima,Peru (South America) and will tell everybody here :)

  i have the same thing wrong with my camera. Ive been reading all the comments and it seems to work from what ever instructions you have been giving them. If you could please send them to me i'd be very thankful.

    Hi there Kehau: If your camera is suffering from the white/blank screen and no amount of resetting or new batteries has helped try this. The "Quick Fix" for the Sony DSC-S40 white/blank screen problem is very simple: 1. Hold the camera firmly in your left hand. 2. With the knuckles of your right hand smartly rap the Cybershot logo.       Wow, we had the issue of the screen getting "pixelly" and it started to scroll on us. When Googling Screen Issues, I came across your fix. Tried it and it worked!!! Who would have thought.... Thanks sooo much!

      An Honorary Gold Star is just not enough. I spent no less than 2 hours trying to figure out how to fix it and in less than 20 seconds, I fixed it using your method. THANK YOU!!!!!!!

  I was actually online shopping for a replacement camera when I found your message. My camera went white while on vacation and I missed out on alot of photo opportunities. I love this camera and the photos it takes. I didn't really want another one. Thanks Bob!
