Bob's fix worked first time on my original sony dsc-s40. Just bought another on ebay with white screen problem for £6 ($10 ish) inc post. Bob's fix got it working in about 2 minutes (4 knuckle raps) Wonder how much money in total we've all saved with Bob's fix? Thanks again Bob !!!!

Thank you very very much! I used to take a lot of photographs, it was one of my hobbies, but this camera put me so angry that last months I just ask my friends and family to copy their photos, and my camera was rejected to a dusty corner. Now the problem seems to be fixed, although the colours are not ok and sometimes the image moves up-down, but I will be able to take this camera to some aggresive places like sand, where I wouldn't dare to take my new Lumix (Sony never again, that's for sure)

I am amazed! I have used this and now the camera works. The other fix I received from Sony (that worked, but not as quickly as your solution!) 1) take out batteries 2) press the "power" button for 30 secs (I press it up to one minute) 3) insert batteries and turn on. Thank you so very much for the quick fix for the sony DSC-S40 Solution the one knock on the Cyber-shot logo worked wonders and my camera which showed a white screen came back to life as if it was magic.My camera is like 7 yrs old without any problems till date .Thanks once again .
