Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!!!

It works.. Hold in left hand and hit it with the right hand. I had been on the telephone with Sony and that is what they wanted to fix the problem.. $111.00
    I like your solution better..

I even took my to a repair shop and they said as long as the picture were good when printed forget.. I don't do business there anymore either...

    Thanks again

Hi Carole: You are certainly Welcome! Yes, not everyone has a spare $111.00 gathering dust to spend getting their camera fixed. And since the "Quick Fix" is free, you can't beat the price! You are right, the camera repair shop missed the point: with the screen being blank/white you can't change anything as far as setup... Go forth and take some new pics! I just fixed two cameras per your advice, (kinda like an old tube tv fix!) mine and my daughters. Unfortunately, she had already bought a new nikon to replace hers, so now i have two!!! Wished i hadn't waited so long to google. Thanks Bob - Bill, louisa, va,

Hello Bill: You are certainly Welcome! Well, look at it this way, you'll always have a backup with fresh batts and maybe an extra SD card! Of, course, since it's fixed now, you could sell it on one of the auction sites. Mention that it works and that should be worth a couple of extra bucks! Warm regards, Bob The Allens of Allentown, PA USA

Hi, Bob! Thank you for taking the time to post your solution. It worked for me too! And thanks to all people who answered and made the site so easily accessible from google. Out of curiosity: why do you think this works? Is it temporary, or did you see it stay for good? (It justs seems too good to be true..) Thanks again! I'll go take some pictures now! :))

Hello Christina: You are certainly Welcome! Thank you for your response regarding the Quick Fix working successfully for your Sony DSC-S40 with the white/blank LCD screen. The pics that Eric has been kind enough to e-mail indicate some sort of issue with an internal "cable". I believe my Quick Fix simply re-seats whatever it is that is loose. The Quick Fix has been permanant for us for 6 months now. Warm regards, Bob The Allens of Allentwon, PA USA

    Hi Bob:

Thanks for the tip. Actually when my daughter's DSC-S40 did the white screen thing, we did a "Fonzi" by hitting it on the table and it worked for awhile.

When it happened again, anyway I hit it just would not fix it. So I gave up
and bought a used S40 on ebay. When I received it yesterday it had the white screen thing when I first powered it on. I did another Fonzi to it and was working again.

I disassembled the first one looking for something lose, I could not find anything, then after I reassembled it, the camera worked again!

Now with 2 of these I might try a more permanent fix. I'll send an email to get the "Open the camera solution".

Thanks from all the responses it looks like you found the right Fonzi for this one!
    Jack

I know alot of people are knocking the manufacturer over this one. But I have had many Sony products including a TRV740 Video camera. I had that TRV740 camera topple off the top of some bleachers while it was on a tripod and crash onto a basketball floor. It is still working, and that was just one of many times it got dropped. I have had several other Sony products and I must say that design defects are rare, but as we have seen with this particular DSC-S40 they do happen. For what its worth. Jack
