The LCD screen on my camera has gone out (it's displaying only white). It did this yesterday for the first time, and when I turned it off and back on, it started to work again. Today, however, that's not working. I tried the reset and no-go. Do you [still] make repairs like this? If so, how much would it cost? Sony Factory repair service is expensive!

I dropped my DSC-W1 on the ground recently. The camera still works fine, but battery cover popped open and aparently, the little tabs holding it in place broke off and I now have to use scotch tape to hold it closed. Can this be fixed?

    Thanks

Our digital camera (Sony DSC-P52) was dropped and then made a grinding noise, but still continued to function. Now the camera displays the error message "turn the power off and on again", and does not work. I took it apart and found the problem, a small gear that helps open the lens cover had lost a number of teeth. It is the main black gear that junctions with the sliding gear arm for the lens cover mechanism. I can send a pic if necessary. Where do I buy this black gear?

I have the same camera and the same problem, although I didn't drop mine. I hadn't used it in a few months and was getting it ready for use and its doing the lens sticking thing. Seems to be a commen problem with sony cameras. Any luck getting the above repaired? or a price on a proffesional repair?

I have the same problem, When I have turned on the camera to take a photo I see the message Turn the power off and on again. the lens camera is making a strange noise, it seems something is stuck to the cover of lens.

Alex I have this camera with this problem: " have a mvc-cd250 and the charge light flashes when I put it on charge. I bought a new battery and it still flashes. What could be the problem? Is it fixable? How much?", any idea what it would cost to fix this? It works 100% when powered from charger, but does not want to operate on battery, message "infolitium battery only"
