HomeE04 Unit in safeguard mode : Remove and Reattach Battery I have had this same problem since my warranty ran out on my JVC DV camcorder. When I turn it on to record or play, a code appears on the display screen "E04 Remove and reattach battery. Unit in safegaurd mode." I have tried to remove the battery and replace it and I have the head cleaned. Twice I have brought it in for repairs but over time the same thing comes up. Can any one tell me what causes this and how to rectify it.

When I turn it on to record or play, a code appears on the display screen "E04 Remove and reattach battery. Unit in safegaurd mode." " I have tried to remove the battery and replace it and I have the head cleaned. Twice I have brought it in for repairs but over time the same thing comes up. Can any one tell me what causes this and how to rectify it. Oh gawd, I tapped the speaker for my DVL 805 and it worked too. I hope someone in JVC management is reading this thread and wondering why their cameras are bloody troublesome. I tell you, right now... Mr JVC...get rid of all the design geeks worldwide and make practical products. I'm not buy anymore JVC products until I get a Xmas card from them!!! I looked a another model JVC camcorder with the same error and the video head was not turning freely. I gave it a turn to free it up and no more error message after that. I have been having the same problem with my camcorder. I think it has ot do with the tape not just the battery. I have been having the same problem and i think it might have to do with the tape also not just the battery. I got an error E06, Please remove and re-attach the battery. The cam was indeed eating up the tape. It got worse each time you reinstalled the battery and tried to re-start the camera. It just ate a few more inches of tape each time, until the tape actually broke! The tape up-take mechanisim had stopped bringing the tape back into the cassette after an attempted play/record operation. I took it in for service and they claimed to have repaired the "Tape Transport/Loading Mechanisim". I'm a service tech myself and keep the machine in an "ultra-clean" state, so this explanation makes no sence to me! I think there is either a design or manufacturing flaw with this cam. If it destroys any more of my commercial (paid for) shots, I'll be seeking damages from JVC. This cam isn't even a year old! Mark Just a follow-up to my last post. I've now tried the beating method on another camera and it works. If you haven't tried this yet, you have nothing to loose by trying. What's the worst that happens, you break it more? You're going to have to buy a new camera anyway. I spent $300 to fix the problem at a repair center. A new camera is that much, why pay to fix it? My best reccomendation, if this doesn't work, buy a new camera that's not made by JVC. Be sure your hitting the area on the side where the speaker is. I THINK WHAT HAS HAPPENED IS THAT YOU HAVE BOUGHT THE CAMERA AND NOT SET IT UP VIA THE MENU. YOU DO THIS BY SWITCHING THE CAMERA TO MODE {M} AND THEN YOU PRESS THE MENU BUTTON ON YOUR CAMCORDER AND START FROM THER. IF IT STILL DOSENT WORK THEN YOU SHOULD MOST PROBABLY GET A NEW BATTERY. AND THAT SHOULD BE SORTED OTHERWISE EMAIL ME BACK The E01 Error is gone again. The mechanics for the cassette needed a bit of a push to lock properly. Now it works again. But I still don't get anything transferred to my PC. Cheers, J.R. Hi, people! I have a similar problem with my JVC GR-DVL355. I had a problem transferring my video to the PC, and to be sure that the heads are clean I took out the tape. They looked OK, so I inserted the tape again. The mechanism closed, but I never heard the motor for the heads. And now I got the E01 error and safeguard mode. Removing the battery doesn't help, carefully shaking or tapping against the device doesn't help either. I can't get the tape out, I can't record and I can't play. What the hell does E01 mean? How can I get rid of that error? Any ideas? Please? Cheers! J.R. |
