HomeE04 Unit in safeguard mode : Remove and Reattach Battery I have had this same problem since my warranty ran out on my JVC DV camcorder. When I turn it on to record or play, a code appears on the display screen "E04 Remove and reattach battery. Unit in safegaurd mode." I have tried to remove the battery and replace it and I have the head cleaned. Twice I have brought it in for repairs but over time the same thing comes up. Can any one tell me what causes this and how to rectify it.

Okay i am haveing the same problems reatch battery and safe guard error. i dont know what to do . if there is anything i do to get this to waay please tell me Thanks April I took my JVC to spring break in Cancun, Mexico and do not have any movies to show for it. Battery Safe Guard Mode came up the whole time, and I now realize that this is a common problem with JVC cameras as you can see if you search under JVC camcorder problems on the internet. The camera has been rarely used since it has been purchased. Circut City wants $280 to repair the camera and it will probably last 1 day longer than the guarantee. JVC camcorders are terrible. I can't believe JVC leagally gets away with making an inferior product, with every model having the same problem. Something should be done!!! I have JVC GR DVL 355. I am facing exactly the problem. Have you found out any solution. Knidly let me know and oblige. I am practicing orthopaedic surgeon at Vadodara, Gujarat, India. Kindly let me know. Thanks i have the same problem. most times it was due to the moisture in the air, early morning dew, or just too cold, i have found that removing the cassett and and reinstaling it sometimes works for me. most of the time. I understand all your frustrations relating to DV camcorder issues but dont alot of high tech products have issues..... most new products are built down to a price point and are early to market to get on top of competitors thus perhaps not meeting the rigorous testing once given to products. All manufacturers have issues , some more than others and whilst you may think that all of the feedback here spells major failure,,,, this is the WORLDWIDE WEB you are getting a reaction from. There are alot of people without issues. Generally the problems are caused by tape... just accept to use Panasonic and JVC tapes also dont mix ME and MP tapes(chemical reaction can occur), connector issues that can be fixed by clean, crimp and seal techniques and occasionally mechanical issues. PCBs can suffer from solder issues and then require rework. Remember camcorders are mechanical devices and regardless of hours of use can suffer from heat(left in car), grit and sand(beach/desert), vibration and impact(travelling), and fluids(rain, fishing, surfing, etc)... issues can and do occur. Often customers lie and deceive only to be shown footage recovered of them doing that which they have denied. If you keep having the same issues repair after repair then more likely the repair undertaken was not thorough enough or lacked the resolve to truly be effective.... take it up with your repairer. Yours A DVC serviceman Australia Hey! I also got this problem.. And i really CANT get it to work! I dont know even what ''whack'' is.. :( Could someone explain me? Plz email me soon! :( I need the camera for a school project... I had the same problem. I took it to the get it service (clean the head etc). At the moment it seems to be ok, for how long who knows. My main concern now is the dv in/out connection is not working. Before it went I did managed to transfer 2 hrs of film to my pc. Now the stupid camera will not transfer at all. Can anyone help. I have the JVC GR DVL 505 and have experienced the same problems with the E04 error - I have been trying to fix it myself for 3 months...I switched from JVC tapes to Sony tapes I bought at Walmart - only had the error on and off since the new tapes - played with a spring loaded switch on the front of the tape today, put it back in and the error is gone....not sure for how long but I will switch back to JVC tapes and keep you posted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have this same problem!>!>! I want it to go away! It's a good thing to know that it isn't always me having this kind of problems. In 1999 I bought the top range camcorder GR-DVL9500. It cost me about $1700!!!. A two month salary!!! I especially bought the cam to record the growing up of my kids. But after 2 months!!! the blue screen starts to appear during playback. I'm sure there was and is data on the tape but it doesn't show up. The sound also acts weird. I send it back for repairs (warranty) and it was fixed. But after about a year the problems start comming back. I bought a cleaning tape (20$!!) and this doesn't solve the problem. At least, as it is intermittent I don't know if it does. It's very frustrating as you never know if it going to playback and you're afraid it isn't going to record the next scene. Another problem is that the camera tends to shut down completely for no apparent reason. BTW the camera didn't meet the expectations at all. Recording in low light conditions (indoor) is almost impossible. I've already had some problems with a JVC VCR in the past, so that's it for me. Never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever I am going to buy a JVC product. My next cam is going to be a SONY for sure!! |
