JVC GR - DVL9500

Jos Posted Feb 27, 2005, in response to:Paul

It's a good thing to know that it isn't always me having this kind of problems. In 1999 I bought the top range camcorder GR-DVL9500. It cost me about $1700!!!. A two month salary!!! I especially bought the cam to record the growing up of my kids. But after 2 months!!! the blue screen starts to appear during playback. I'm sure there was and is data on the tape but it doesn't show up. The sound also acts weird. I send it back for repairs (warranty) and it was fixed. But after about a year the problems start comming back. I bought a cleaning tape (20$!!) and this doesn't solve the problem. At least, as it is intermittent I don't know if it does. It's very frustrating as you never know if it going to playback and you're afraid it isn't going to record the next scene. Another problem is that the camera tends to shut down completely for no apparent reason. BTW the camera didn't meet the expectations at all. Recording in low light conditions (indoor) is almost impossible. I've already had some problems with a JVC VCR in the past, so that's it for me. Never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever I am going to buy a JVC product. My next cam is going to be a SONY for sure!!
