HomeE04 Unit in safeguard mode : Remove and Reattach Battery I have had this same problem since my warranty ran out on my JVC DV camcorder. When I turn it on to record or play, a code appears on the display screen "E04 Remove and reattach battery. Unit in safegaurd mode." I have tried to remove the battery and replace it and I have the head cleaned. Twice I have brought it in for repairs but over time the same thing comes up. Can any one tell me what causes this and how to rectify it.

Hi, my name is Gabriel, I am from Germany. The local service center gave me the hint to lift up the batterie and any other eletrical source, leave the camcorder for a couple of hours and restart it again. Mostly the error is gone. He explained it must have something to do with the microchip inside which needs to set back or something. If this does not work you must send it to the service. Hope this message is useful. EVERYONE!!!!!! A FIX FOR JVC I THINK! Do me a favor and try this fix. Everyone talks about preasure points, smacking the camera, etc.. Also people gettign the drum replaced. Try this fix. Its almot magical!. Open the door to the camera, eject the tape, and the metal bar on the BOTTOM of where you slide the tape in, just slightly bend it in. Just enough so that as you put the tape in and watch it go down. The bar will actually push against the bottom of the drum a bit and get pushed back out as the tape descends. Try to play a tape that used to have problems, it works, and I Can record again! Id didnt believe it at first, so I straightend out the bar again, and again, got E04, and nothing playing back. Once I bent it in slightly again, it started working again!!!! Try it and write me back! Dave i have a DR-D30US and i keep on getting the E01 error code telling me to remove the battery but it never works so please help me out i only have 7 days to know if i want to return it I have a similar problem. My JVC GR-DVL920 shows "EO4 Safeguard mode. Eject and reinsert tape." Did you receive any answer to your inquiry? I would appreciate any input to solve this problem. Thank You. NO REPLIES WILL BE RECEIVED FROM ANY POSTING MADE IN THIS SECTION AS IT IS NO LONGER OPERATIONAL. Take the battery out, turn it upside down and bang it on the bas a few times with the flat of your hand. Put the battery back in and start it up. Works for me. Emailed JVC about it but got no response...too hi tech for them! Forgive the interruption, but a group of almost 50 of us JVC camera owners are planning on taking JVC to court via a class-action lawsuit. If interested, I can give you more details if you email me. Basically, we all have one of some 23 camera models that show the E04 / REATTACH BATTERY / UNIT IN SAFEGUARD MODE problem, and believe this problem has been known to JVC for years and still they expect people to pay for repairs. hello - I've the same camera and exactly the same error. I know it was a while ago you posted this error - did you ever get a resolution to it? Thanks Jon Did you get an answer to this question, same thing is happening to me. Thanks, Jamie From Jeffs comment in Aug o4; ////It really works!! The "beat the hell out of your camera" method. //// I followed the advice of using a long foam q-tip with head cleaner alcohol to clean the "condensation" eye which is located in a slightly different location on my old DVL 307 circa 01, but from descriptions found her, I was able to clean it. Then after no change I chose the "hit it in the speaker with the battery" plan. Presto, after leaving the camera overnight while I charged my one hour and my four hour batteries, I came home from work to find Voila, turn on power, no error message, tape inserts ok and records and ejects. Thanks to al;l of you who posted this info, a great resource you all are. Steve, April 28,2008, with a 6 year old JVC camcorder back to life. |
