Re: JVC GR - DVL300

Juan Carrera Posted Apr 10, 2004, in response to:Paul

Forgive the interruption, but a group of almost 50 of us JVC camera owners are planning on taking JVC to court via a class-action lawsuit. If interested, I can give you more details if you email me. Basically, we all have one of some 23 camera models that show the E04 / REATTACH BATTERY / UNIT IN SAFEGUARD MODE problem, and believe this problem has been known to JVC for years and still they expect people to pay for repairs.

Hi, I have been searching for the "lense cap" message solution for my JVC GR D71U camcorder when I came across your message. Can you tell me what the outcome was or is it still ongoing? Also, was there any solution for the issues these cameras have? I would appreciate any help you can give me in this matter. Thanks, Janis

Have you ever went thru with the class action suit and if so what was the result? this same problem happened to me to my GRD90u and it is in perfict condition with about 4 to 6 hours use! then on day I took it out of my case and it did not work so I started using my older 8MM canon that about 10 years old. but am sick over this camera not working any more.

I haven't checked on this site for some time so I don't know the status of the lawsuit. Could you please update me. I bought a camcorder GR-D50 whilst on holiday in the USA in 2003(I live in England) and it only worked for a few months before I found the message E01 unit in safeguard mode detach and reattach battery, which, of course, does not work. Any info welcome. Thanks

Have you already done this? If not, what are the details? My DVL300 does the same thing. Plenty of good memories are lost. Thanks,

Having the same "safe guard" problems. Is the suit over? Would be interested in trying to get a video camera to work.

I have a DVL805 that is getting the E04 error. It's the only problem I have with the camera. It used to go away but now it doesn't work at all. I would like to join your lawsuit.

I was charging the battery, the night before my son's gathering, and when I was testing it. My camcorder displayed a message "E04 Remove and reattach battery, unit in Safeguard mode". Later I replaced the battery with an original, charged, and still came with that same problem. Add me onto your lawsuit, if it's still going on. Thanks

I have a JVC cybercam #GR-DVF21. I am having the same E04 error. It has come and gone, but now has won't go away. JVC's response, "pay for them to fix it." I payed almost $900 for it and didn't expect so many problems. I realize this law suite probably already happened, I would like to know the results of your pursuit. If the law suite is still going on, what is the progress, & how would a person go about joining. Thanks for the help.

I have the JVC GR-D71US. It is a total POS. I bought it around Dec. 2004 from HSN. I started getting LENS CAP error shortly after. I didn't think much about it, I would just cover the lens with my hand and it would eventually go away. Shortly after my cam started to go crazy. It would become extremely blurry and black and white. If I hit the side of it a couple of times it fixes, momentarily. I was about to buy a new camera and just steer clear of JVC, but now that I've found this forum I want JVC to fix this. It's total BS to pay this kind of money for a product that does not deliver at all. Let me know about this lawsuit if there is one in the works. My email address is attached.
