Re: JVC GR - DVL300

Juan Carrera Posted Apr 10, 2004, in response to:Paul

Forgive the interruption, but a group of almost 50 of us JVC camera owners are planning on taking JVC to court via a class-action lawsuit. If interested, I can give you more details if you email me. Basically, we all have one of some 23 camera models that show the E04 / REATTACH BATTERY / UNIT IN SAFEGUARD MODE problem, and believe this problem has been known to JVC for years and still they expect people to pay for repairs.

Hi! I don't know anything about this lawsuit thing, but my husband bought 3 JVC cameras(for some unknown reason) and each one had the same problem everyone is describing. The one he just bought not even 2 years ago has the same problem. Please let me know if there is still time to get in on the lawsuit. thank you, Sandra Amarti

I would love to join this lawsuit. We had our camcorder for about 6 months when it went into safemode. By the time I sent it back to JVC they wanted over $400 to fix it. I said no and then they said they would fix it for $250 and I still said no. So they charged me $50 to look at it and then sent it back. I sent it to a local shop and they could not fix it. It is currently sitting in the closet broke. A total waste of money!! Tricia

I have the same problem with my jvc-camcorder about the lens cap needing to be removed even though it already has been removed. has there been any solution found to the problem?

Have had the E04 error come up and now can't get the JVC GR-DVL300 to restart. How can I join the lawsuit?

Hello there, Just wondering on the status of the lawsuit ? I have the JVC GR-D70 AA and paid $1000 Australian for it about 2 years ago, and now just as I have my first child it stops working with "Lens Cap" error. It thinks it is on, but it is not and the screen is dark and will not let me film. This company makes rubbish products and should not be allowed to operate if they keep this up. To be honest, I have only notified JVC of this issue today and will await a response some time this week. But just in case, I have been researching other issues with this product, and others it seems, so i can see what other customers had to do to resolve their issue. Thanks kindly Darren Blizzard Melbourne, Australia

I was looking online to find a troubleshoot for my problem with my JVC camcorder. I am having the same problem as you. I am having trouble getting a picture on my camcorder. When I turn it on I only see black through the lens and/or through the screen. Constantly gives the lens cap warning in automatic and manual modes. Will only record sound. LCD is black with only the warning message. Just wondering if you have found any hope or given up. We just started using it consistently for the birth of our first daughter and the dumb camcorder only lasted to for 3 months. i had received it as a Christmas present 2 years ago from my mother and didn't use it much until our daughter was born in April. By July it started with the "Lens Cap On" issue. Of course it is past warranty. JVC told me to take the battery pack off for 1/2 hour and retry. Of course it didn't work. It doesn't work if the battery pack is off for a long while. It's a poor excuse for a troubleshoot technique. After calling them and saying this they direct me to get it repaired by their dealer. I would have to mail it to a dealer and have them charge $55 to just open it and then charge for any repairs done. No way! I am interested joining your lawsuit and helping in any way I can. I can't contribute money but I can be a squeaky wheel. :) Any help/advice/counseling : ) would be appreciated. Thanks and have a very Merry Christmas!!
