Re[2]: JVC GR - DVL300

Darren Blizzard Posted Mar 12, 2006, in response to:Juan Carrera

Hello there, Just wondering on the status of the lawsuit ? I have the JVC GR-D70 AA and paid $1000 Australian for it about 2 years ago, and now just as I have my first child it stops working with "Lens Cap" error. It thinks it is on, but it is not and the screen is dark and will not let me film. This company makes rubbish products and should not be allowed to operate if they keep this up. To be honest, I have only notified JVC of this issue today and will await a response some time this week. But just in case, I have been researching other issues with this product, and others it seems, so i can see what other customers had to do to resolve their issue. Thanks kindly Darren Blizzard Melbourne, Australia

The lawsuit is still going on. It only applies to USA customers, and JVC is fighting it all the way. It has been a 2 year effort so far, and even the lawyers don't know when the whole thing will be over. Hopefully JVC will learn something about selling poorly designed and/or manufactured products to people and then expecting to collect a 2nd time as a repair. Some people have even paid for multiple repairs. Sometimes for the same problem. The lens cap problem is very common, I'm sorry to say. The problem with design/manufacturing flaws is that the repair won't last. What caused it to break in the first place will cause it to break again. And again. My Panasonic 3CCD replacement for the JVC has been to several trips, even to India, with no problems. It cost less, and works better. Word to the wise.
