The lawsuit is still going on. It only applies to USA customers, and JVC is fighting it all the way. It has been a 2 year effort so far, and even the lawyers don't know when the whole thing will be over.
Hopefully JVC will learn something about selling poorly designed and/or manufactured products to people and then expecting to collect a 2nd time as a repair. Some people have even paid for multiple repairs. Sometimes for the same problem. The lens cap problem is very common, I'm sorry to say. The problem with design/manufacturing flaws is that the repair won't last. What caused it to break in the first place will cause it to break again. And again.
My Panasonic 3CCD replacement for the JVC has been to several trips, even to India, with no problems. It cost less, and works better. Word to the wise.
