I can't believe it! I'll admit I was reluctant to try this, but I did it with the power on. I rapped it gently with my knuckles and it shut off. I thought "oh boy I've broken it", to my surprise, I turned it back on and its working fine. I have a Sony Cybershot that we took to Disney. It was working fine until we went on Splash Mountain. I guess the fall must have been too much of a shake for the camera. I tapped on the Cybershot Logo three times and it worked! Unbelievable!!! Thank you so much, Mark my camera is now working...how did this knocking work? anyway, thank you so much for the advise. and this still does work...my s40 of 3 years suddenly gave up on me and i was despaired...i didnt think the simple solution given here would do the trick...but i thot what the hell...and it worked!!! i dont believe it :-) Wow, that is awesome! I though I was sol, the internets rock! Hi Bob, My Sony DSC-S40 screen went white and since this is my second faulty Sony camera I was looking on the net for some information to make a complaint. Then I saw your 'quick fix' solution. I can't believe it! My camera is fixed! I keep turning my camera on and off because I still can't believe that I have a screen!!! This is my second sony camera. My first Sony camera the DSC-P72 screen went completely. I tried the quick fix on this but it's completely gone... I may still ring Sony to give them some feedback on their products. Thanks Bob for helping me fix my camera. Kindest regards Christine in New Zealand Hi Bob, Im from Chile and i have the white LCD problem. It just stop working, i don´t know we. But i know that the camera still take pictures, but i really need the LCD. The camera is now in Sony´s hands to make a study and they will tell me how much to pay to fix it, if you could help me i will be thankfull. Sorry for my english Wow, Bob! I thank you very much for this quick fix, it saved me $110.00 like everyone else. I don't think Sony likes you so much after looking at all the responses on this website along...that's not counting the many people who have heard this from their friends instead of finding it here. You alone with this one fix have saved the world thousands of dollars, which could have been in Sony's pockets. I wonder how many of those "techs" use the same solution when you send the camera's to them? LOL Again, thank you very much from Sevilla, Spain. This is a similar fix that dell acknowledged for some laptops/notebooks a few years ago. AQpparently some connectors worked loose after a while. dell told me to hod my note book about 6 inches above the desk and drop it. it would fix the loose chip connectors. must be a similar inside problem with this camera!!! thank youuuuuuuu....it worked |
