I have a 32"Sony wega trinitron bought in 1999. After 4 years it would not turn on right away. The red standby light would blink 4 times and keep on blinking. I had to hit the power button on and off for about 1 minute to 30 minutes for the last 3 years. That was crazy. So I just left the tv on 24/7 and switched it to a different video input. That was my "tv off position" for the last 3 years. $1000 bucks for a tv that doesn't last more than 4 years? All of my sitters and friends always turn off my tv with the power button by accident. 4/4/07 it finally doesn't want to turn on. Take it to the shop? Fill me in on some info. Thanks

Same problem: Standby light flashing, tv will not turn on. Bought in Feb 2004 just went our today. Model#KV34HS510 Serial#8045988. Has anyone heard if this is doing any good? Is Sony Concerned with this problem? Or are they just ignoring it?

I have the same problem. Sony Trinitron 32" turns off after a few min. and will not stay on when turned back on.

Happened to me a couple weeks ago 36" High Def...just wouldn't turn on...six blinks from the stand-by light. Tried the hair dryer "trick" and it worked...the first time. Just spent $300 to fix. Next TV will be a Samsung.

I bought my Sony Trinitron TV in June of 2003 and am just now (Sept. 2009) having the same problem, but don't know how to fix it. We live out in the country, so getting a repair man to come out here - well forget it, unless you have an extra couple of hundred dollars to give them. Our television is so extremely heavy, it takes 4 very strong guys to lift and move it anywhere!!! Our sons and their friends have moved on, so now we can't move it without hiring and paying someone lots of money to do so. We can no longer turn out tv on and that stupid little red light just blinks over and over. The Satelite dish box comes on, but not the tv..... Are we doomed to having to buy another tv????????

Sony Trinitron Model: KV-32S15 Ser No. 7043532 Manf date Aug 1994 Picture is citting out every 3-5 minutes or so, this is not typical of past Sony products and unacceptable !

Sony KV32S42, new in Jan 2000. Flashing standby light, no pauses. Last night the picture flashed, then went dark. I turned the TV off then on, then the top part of screen had picture, lines in the middle, no picture on the bottom, then picture went dark. I turned off and on a few more times and then the set worked fine for the rest of the evening. Same thing today, except it stayed on for only 5 minutes or so, then the screen went dark again, but I had sound. I tried the reset instructions on the Sony website (with set on, press reset on the remote while pressing the on/off button on the tv), but there was no change. I have a 1978 12" Sony Trinitron that works great and has never been serviced, so this problem - and the apparent commonness of it - surprises me.
