Sony KV32S42, new in Jan 2000. Flashing standby light, no pauses. Last night the picture flashed, then went dark. I turned the TV off then on, then the top part of screen had picture, lines in the middle, no picture on the bottom, then picture went dark. I turned off and on a few more times and then the set worked fine for the rest of the evening. Same thing today, except it stayed on for only 5 minutes or so, then the screen went dark again, but I had sound. I tried the reset instructions on the Sony website (with set on, press reset on the remote while pressing the on/off button on the tv), but there was no change. I have a 1978 12" Sony Trinitron that works great and has never been serviced, so this problem - and the apparent commonness of it - surprises me.
