Lol. so This Whacking method didn't work for me.. I ended opening up the camera and the plastic on the inside focusing lense that connects it to the motor actually broke and there were pieces of plastic everywhere.. and the lense was actually loose... so after removing a lot of little tiny screws and unhooking all the little connectors.. lol yeah..im not sure how to fix it.. will probably have to order a new piece... not sure if its worth it for an old camera..

this was sent to Sony customer care Above is a link to many other people that are having the same problems with error code. E:61:10 I almost spent 350 bucks for something that is obviously a defect and I would like this resolved - my camera cost 2K and works sporadically. Thanks in advance.

the smacking has worked for me over the last 8 months - sony should take responsibility and recall this problem as it would cost 300 plus to send to repair.

YES if your camera is flashing E:61:10. Just turn it off and give it 2 smacks. I can't believe it worked. It was just that simple!
