Unbelievable, we hiked with our friend one wonderful canyon in Jordan (two and half days) and after first half day appeared this error E:61:10. After my comeback home I red your suggestion and just one slap repaired my camera. Thank you for this suggestion. It works 100%. I imagine, that my camera in good case felt me down from my hand, so there was probably some disconnection!

Add me to the list of smackers. I had dropped my TRV-510 in the dirt. After cleaning it out I had no zoom and no focus. Searched on Mr. Google and found this thread. A few light smacks did nothing. Got a rubber mallet and started with light taps, then graduated to medium taps. On a scale of 1-10 I hit it at about a 3. Four taps and the zoom function returned, but focus only worked throughout part of the zoom range. A few more taps and it's fully functional. Probably a sliding mechanism gets stuck when it receives too much shock. The taps unstick it.

I have an old Sony Mavica that suddenly stopped working. Today I thought I'd give it one last try. Nothing in the manual worked. I logged onto this site, tried the two whack method and suprise the camera is working for the first time in 2 years. Now does anyone have a treatment for a black and blue hand? Thanks to whoever came up with this technological break through because Sony was no help.

Thanks! Worked like a charm on my T-1.

WOW - Hit the camera a couple times on the table! I thought this was nuts. Sony told us it would be $180 to send it in for repair when I only paid $280 to buy it a couple years a go. Anyway, I hit the bottom of the cammera against the table twice - and the chattering and the error code went away!!! Do you suppose Sony knows about this? Maybe thats how they fix them too!! THANKS!!!! - You saved me $180.

you know surprisngly it works with the dsc-t3...a nice firm smack on the floor and no more e:61:10 error...if any of you were in the military like me and work with communication electronic gear...my camera just earned the nickname "an-gra"

How aaaawesome is the technology of internet!!!So much help! I just wanna double check: I keep the slot closed and bang the cam in my hands with the lens facing the hit? I soooo hope that's gonna work

Shit! It`s really work! BUT. The Error message is gone when I look MemoryStick files, and showing again when I try to shot :(

Yes....It worked for me too. My wife started out with a very light tap and I said "Come On, hit it" after the third attempt it started operating as normal. What a crack up. Tim
