JVC Mini DV Camera

Jon Rubery Posted Dec 11, 2006

Camera seems to think that the lens cap is on, there is no image (and no the lens cap is not on)

The message "Lens Cap" appears when the camera is turned on, there is no image to see and it will not record, but the playback facility of old tapes still works fine. The model is JVC Mini DV GR - D60EK Thanks

PLEASE NOTE!! anyone with a lens cap query should click on my RED link and enter their query along with the MODEL NUMBER of the camcorder concerned in the box provided. If the query is asked simply by making a posting in this section (under heading of Jon Rubbery) I will not be aware that any new posting have been made, and as such its very unlikely to be answered as I do not check through old postings. (which this section is!)

That is a design flaw that JVC is FIXING FOR FREE!!!! The problem is a bad CCD(?) in the computer part of the lens. I have a JVC GRD32U that had the same exact problem w/the message about the 'REMOVE LENS CAP' even though it removed. I found some info on line about a lot of owners with the same problem that went too the JVC website and there's a form you can print out, put all the info on it, pack the camera up (the website gives you the nearest service center w/addresses and phone numbers!), you call the center where you're sending it, tell them the problem on the phone and they give you an RA number so they will foot the shipping/handling/postage....EVERYTHING.....it won't cost you a dime and in about 2 weeks, you get the camera back and it's like new!! If you like the camera and want too keep it, it's ALL FREE whether the warranty is up or not, they WILL FIX IT ON THE HOUSE!!

No Prob...I had the same problem with my GR-D72U. There is a defect in the CCD image sensor. JVC will fix it for FREE! All it will cost you is shipping it to them. Go to www.jvcservice.com/service/CustNoticeCamcorder.asp?PgReq=DspDtaDtl&MdlNbr=GR-D72US&Pgm=CCD , download the rapair request... Send it off to your nearest service center and they ship it back all fixed up in less than a week. I must tell you though, you ONLY have until Dec. 31 2008 to do this. Not only did they fix mine, they cleaned the heads but also buffed out a scratch. After you get yours fixed, post as many helps as you can to others.
