Hi there. I've got the same problem with my JVC Mini DV camera. Not sure if it's the same model number that you referenced, but it's definitely the same issue. I noticed it this summer after not using it for about a year. The view finder says that the lens cap is on, but it's not. I can see all of the images for night/day mode, etc., but the screen is black. I can record fine, and the play back gives you the sounds you recorded, but still no picture. I haven't tried previously recorded tapes, to see if they play back on the camera. I'll do that now. Anyway, if you've figured anything out about your camera, I'd love to hear the conclusion! Thanks! I was wondering if you were able to gets yours fixed I clled Jvc and they said I would have to mail it in and pay $60.00 for the evaluation unless it is under the recall. Just wondering if you had the same problem. Thanks so much.

image sensor has failed - send to JVC for repair. sensor is about $40, labor additional. they will give you an estimate before repair.
