the two gears which allow the lens to run out and retract are rounded or damaged, so the gears are not meshing and operation is hindered.
My question is do you have the part number or the part? the camera is a sony cybershot DSC-P8 with smart zoom. i myself can fix the camera but only with the part... i have only been only able to locate the spares in india, and when i called the local sony supplier they only provide the whole lens mechanism, at greater cost than a whole new camera.. Can you help me at all?
    thanks for your conceded time.

if you do or can get the parts i am in Australia and postal code is 3030.
    chris.

I'm also having the same problem. The lens will not retract and is just stuck in the extended position. I've tried all reformatting and initialization but nothing works. Please let me know the details on how I might be able to fix this. Thanks!

I have a DSC P41 and would like to see if you still had parts available, notably the exterior casing (back panel), and what the cost would be.
    Thanks

Hi, I have a Sony DSC-W50 and the LCD screen recently cracked. I'd rather not buy a new camera as I haven't had it for too long. Where can I, if it's possible, get a replacement?

I have a DSC-P8 Sony Cyber-shot Digital Still Camera. I dropped it while the lens was open & extended. The lens was jammed extended and would not retract.I tried to align it by forcing it in now it will not operate in or out. I am required to get a cost of repair by my insurance company. Is it worth sending the camera to you as I am keen to have it repaired because of the amount of accessories I have for it?

    Thank you.

    Brian.
