My DSC S40 got the `white screen` last year while in Venice, that time it came back on again after downloading the pictures. This week it happened again but I couldn't sort it out so I was delighted to come across this remedy which worked instantly and has saved me the cost of a new camera. Apart from this fault this is a first class basic camera. Bob

Bob-Thanks so much! I was so worried I would have to pay the $100+ to fix it, but the knuckle tap actually worked! Goes to show no matter how advanced we get you can still hit something to make it work!

Thanks a lot - when I phone to service, thy told me the "expertise" will cost 10 dollars, so repair will cost 60 $ +part's cost. I safe them due to your advice! Halina
