Home | Previous messageQuick update: I fixed the camera myself as follows: 1. Hold camera firmly in left hand 2. Smartly rap front of camera with knuckles of right hand on the "Cyber-shot" logo. It worked, now the LCD is working again for free. Guess I don't need to pay Sony $111.00 for repair service. Bob Allen

YEAH!!! It really works! :-) Thanks very much for this. Although my ageing Sony S40 could do with a replacement, economically this isn't a viable time to do it. One little knock... that's all it took! Brilliant! :-) Thanks, once again. OMG It actually worked! Thank you so much! Solution if the knuckle techique does not suffice: Grab a small screwdriver Open your camera unscrewing it on the half a dozen small screws You just need to manage to take out the back cover to fix the problem On the top righ of the lcd screen, there is a small orange tape going south to a white and black rectangular devidce 3-4mm long. On this device there is mini switch, the black piece. Move it to 'open' the small device. Take out the orange tape and put it back fully Close the switch Test your camera - you can turn it on even if its skeleton is open. Good luck ! I just found this online looking for how to fix my camera and it worked for me too. I was about to give up on it, and I cannot thank you enough. Thank you so very much for your helpful hints!!!! hey bob, what if my olympus fe -230 has the same problem. my camera makes funny noises as if its rewinding tape and is a white screen? how do i fix it ? and what do you mean by hold smartly with your knuckles? I am totally useless when something goes wrong. My son luckily thought of Google. Many thanks for your info. worked a dream on the first tap. Amazing how many people have had the same problem. Best wishes and many thanks from a cold and very wet England. Merry Christmas to you all! Thanks, it fixed mine hey thanks very much i didnt think it would work but it did thanks saved me buying new camera An absolute great fix, is there something permanent to do by opening up the camera. I think somewhere I read about the harness coming loose but no pics or advice on how to fix it. Still if a rap or two fixes the problem better than trashing the camera. Thanks for the help:) |
