Re[3]: JVC service or questions

Stephanie Posted Mar 26, 2006, in response to:Stacy Sample

Hi, my Jvc 32in television does not have a manuel. My screen has a picture, but over the picture ia a black screen over it. What is all that about? I cannot figure out what is wrong with it and I,m sorry I do not know the model number. I know its a (D) series model and I think the year is 2000. Thankyou, Stephanie

thank you for posting the solution to the big black box. It was set on "text" under the closed caption setting. I appreciate the solution!

I have a JVC and I have tried the fix; however, on my Closed Caption, I do not have the option of turning it off. The only options I have for Closed Caption are: CC1 - CC4. Any suggestions to get the black box from the screen. Thanks

Stephanie, today I had same exact problem. Black large rectangle on picture tube that won't go away. I saw your query and was myself hoping that someone replied to your question. However, there were no replies. I was desperate and almost dumped our 32" set for garbage pick-up a few moments ago. But, I combed many sites and found the solution below. The television now works perfect. Follow the steps below. It should work. Post a reply if this works for you. Best Regards db from new york I get a big black square box covering 90% of my picture. This is a function of the closed caption circuit available for future use called text mode. Simply press close the caption button on the TV remote until the square disappears. If your TV doesn’t have the closed caption button on the remote you will need to do the following: 1. Bring up the menu and highlight closed caption. 2. Press the Volume + button to access this menu. 3. When you enter this menu it will say Mode Text. 4. Press the Volume + button until it says Mode Off. 5. Then press the Channel – button and highlight Finish. 6. Then press the Volume + button to save your settings.

Hi! We have the same problem after we moved to our new house last aug 2006. My husband accepted it as unrepairable thinking it was mishandled while we are moving. So it means he is decided to buy a new tv, spending money again. Today my daughter is absent from school and stayed home coz she is not feeling well. She's watching a movie even the screen is 90% covered with black, so it's like she is just listening to a story from radio. It is not acceptable to me, so i went to google and type the problem and this comes up!!! I printed your instructions and followed it. Good enough and the tv is now working perfectly! Thank you so much for sharing your experience and action. I believe more people will benefit your kindness in sharing it! God bless you.
