Re[4]: JVC AV-32750 TV Will Not Turn On

John Veale Posted Feb 16, 2006, in response to:Dan

Thanks for the help. My wife reported that when she went to turn on the TV this morning that the red light would not stay on. I started out looking for a schematic to see what was going on, suspecting some type of "latch" circuit for the power. I stumbled across this chat line to discover that C926, the 1000uF 16V capacitor might be the problem. I found a 1000uF 16V capacitor on a salvaged board from the past (incidentally about a 1/4 inch taller with the same voltage rating but a higher temperature). I tested the old cap, which showed about 880uF, not great but not terrible, so I was a little dubious that the capacitor was the problem. The replacement cap showed just over 1000uF. However, the replacement cap did the trick. This TV has been quite reliable, except for the power switch itself, which was overly exercised by a 2 year old a few years back.

For a mere $1.59 part C926 1000uf 16V is the culprit for having the TV set not having to turn on. Symptoms are the exact on our JVC AV 32750 from previous posts. Me and the wife was ready to take a trip for a replacement television set shopping spree, but decided wait..... Replace the C926 1000uf 16V with a C926 1000uf 35V from Radio Shack, what the heck I picked up 2. You need a soldering iron and patience. I took photos of the location of the so called 926, email me if need to use them as reference. Our sincere gratitude and thanks to all that posted.
