Lens Cap error message.

When I try to record I get an error message telling me that the len's cap is on. So I can't record anything although the Lens cap is not on. Cam plays vid but wont record. Can anyone help before it goe's in the bin. And never buy JVC again. Had Cam for about 2.5yrs only used it about 5hrs in record time. Thanx for reading this and I hope someone out there can help.

I've a GR-D50EK, I've found it a good recorder when it goes ok but it has 2 problems, It tells you the heads need cleaning when they don't. It also tells you the lens cap is on when it isn't & it then won't let you record. This problem eventually clears but you never know when it will so makes preparing to record something a nightmare. The later problem has only just started happening. I have no idea how to fix it...my sling it in the bi & get another machine.

I've just had the same problem, bought mine Dec 04 in Tenerife, and its done loads of filming and I've made lots of small movies from it. It's now next to me on my desk at work in bits, I took out all the ribbons and put them back in and then with still no response I'd thought I'd search ebay for spares and I found about 3 others with the same problem on there so thought it must be common. Shame because I did like that camera, was easy to use and had good functions. Oh well. Mitch

My husband had the same problem, a friend found a page on the web saying that this was a problem with jvc manufacturing. We got in touch with them, no joy at lst but pushed it. In the end, they picked it up from the house, repaired it then delivered it back again. Trouble is a few months later it has developed another fault, supposedly condensation.

image sensor is defective. send to JVC for estimate, my cam. was 40.00 for parts, labor additional, total bill around 130.00.

JVC will repair the blank lens and viewfinder fault free of charge until October 2007. Refer to www.which.co.uk or www.moneysavingexpert.com/forums or the JVC homepage Ereic

I have the the same problem, i found pointing it at the sun for s split second got it to work but dose not work anymore, I am very disappointed because this was such a good cam corder and i loved to use it, but what really disappoints me is that i have seen the same symptoms in a very expensive sony cam corder they must use the same faulty parts, my advice, if your going to buy a cam corder do you research and find any faults about the model/brand before buying.

Same problem - WHILE UNDER WARRENTY - JVC told me to take it to the dealer - who closed his doors. JVC was not willing to fix it. I had to pay another service centre myself. Having another problem now, about condensation, I found by accident that a model in the US will be fixed for free until next year for the lens cap problem. This model is not available in the US. Is that not the same product with a different model number?
