Home32" Sony TV - blinking issues Hi all. I have a Sony 32" tv thats several years old. When the tv is turned on it blinks in and out ( picture is visible then blinks off ). Sound stays constant. Sometimes, eventually the picture stays on but its intermittent. I read somewhere about it possibly being the flyback transformer. Any ideas appreciated as well as where to buy the recommended parts. Thanks Ryan

Just wanted to say thanks... after several years this thread is still helping people... ... while I understand its not a real "fix", and just buying me a little extra time from my aging T.V. ... I felt compelled to post my thanks :) hey does anybody know where the screen knob is for the kv-27exr90??? i took the back out but i cant find the dam knob. i found the focus but there seems to be no screen knob if anybody can point it out to me that would be very nice thanks everybody Please help! I have the same problem you all do; my 36 inch Sony Trinitron KV-35V35 blinks nonstop. It also takes forever to come on once I push the power button, the red standby just blinks and blinks. I opened the back and looked for the Screen or Picture knobs you all are talking about and can't find them anywhere. Will someone tell me exactly what they look like and where they are located? I cannot afford a new television at this time and am truly hoping someone will help me. Happy Holidays everyone and take care. Peace! Teresa This is really cool. This thread continues to provide value...years after it's original posting. Following the advice in this discussion, I have just now successfully adjusted my Sony KV-32S20 so that it no longer blinks when the screen shows a scene that's a little brighter than most. We put up with this blinking for months...and had almost gotten used to it. But now, without the blinking, we'll actually see that touchdown pass or the action shot in the movie and not have to be limited to audio filling in the gaps. Many thanks to all you posters in this discussion. Pem Well its me Alfred again I just brought a new 32 inch sylania tv so I don't got to worry about the old sony tv. Have a Sony kv27v10 with this problem. 15 years it's worked fine then the picture would black out and come back repeatedly. Removed the back. There are 2 small knobs. There is a small circuit board attached directly to the back of the tube. On the side of this board facing into the TV is a thin black knob. Adjust this while the TV is on until you get a solid picture with no winking out. Careful not to touch anything else. To the right of the a/v inputs is another knob that can be used to adjust sharpness. Works perfectly now, no guarantees on picture life but it's better than a tv that winks at you. Hi again, Like I said my tv blinks but my brother opened it up and in there was so dusty I think its been in there for 16 years lol anyway he saw two knobs one said "focus" and other didn't say noting, he turn the one that said "focus" noting happen so he turn the one that said noting and it got blury lol so he tried to fix it but its got more blurier. I have a 36 inch tv that blinks and its blury lol I can't wait till I get new TV. Hi everyone, I'm one more with the same problem, my sony tv is blinking each second, I found the two knobs, I did adjust on the screen mark but that didn't work for me. I'm thinking to try change the diode just how said Ricardo but I'd like someone send me the directions please. Thanks Wow everyone has the same problem, I sure hope sony fixed the problem already. My 36" sony trinton tv is 16 years old my friend gave it to me, it blinks every second at frist it didn't bother me but it just blinks more and more faster and faster and the color is bad too. I dont want to open it up and fix it because I don't want to get shock so I decide that i'm gonna buy a new tv, beside Its time to get a hdtv in this new era of tvs. I have an old KV27XBR95S which clicks on and off when cold. I can feel the lower relay on the G board cycling. Is this the now infamous Sony "blinking" problem? I will try the adjustment to the flyback next. I have also seen green on the screed but is comes and goes... Thank you, hope to hear, Walter |
