I tried Tristan's advice by rapidly inserting and removing the memory stick about 10 times. It worked!

Don't worry when you get E:61:00 error, simply strock it on hand forcely 3 4 times, then it will work fine.

I had this problem with my DSC-P73 Sony Cybershot. I wanted to use a 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo (using an adapter to fit my camera), but my camera would display the C:13:01 error. So I did the eraser trick (cleaned the memory stick gold-plated contacts AND the adapter contacts too) and it worked perfectly. =) And I also formatted the memory stick using Windows XP via an USB memory card ready (format to FAT file system, not FAT32), so I guess that helped too. I hope this works for you :)

hey i found a solution - go to menu and then go to setup then go to the memory stick tool section and go to format it then asks " all data in memory stick will be erased. ready?" then oyu hit ok it will say "format completed" sorry guys but to get rid of this problem you have to erase all of your pictures =( i had really good pictures on my camera and i had to erase them all o well

Thanks much! We tried the eraser and it didn't work. Then my husband thumped the camera about 20 times and "wala" it works now! Thanks for the help!!!

I have a SonyDCRDVD108....I actually dropped the camera while it was on a tripod and got the E:61:00 error. After reading 5 accounts of either hitting the camera or dropping the camera to fix it I thought I would try. Unbelievable....it worked!

only 2 days after I started to use my sony 1gb memory stick pro, I got this message from my camera. it was weird that it happened only in 1 minute. I took one picture and closed the camera, and 1 minute later when I opened it to take another picture, I saw the message. some programs which I used to rescue the photos in the stick claimed that the stick has a space of only 512 bytes! and there is nothing in it! I want to rescue my photos in the stick. do you think is there any chance or way? any suggestions will be appreciated, thanx.

HAHAHHA! Thank you guys. As many other people said, I just tried slapping the camera a few times and voilá it worked. Thanks for making me save some hundreds in repairing. Agustin.

Tried everything. It was apparent that the problem is in the camera (F717) as three Memory Stcks gave the same error. Finally someone mentioned to just push the MS further in. With my camera on (not sure that matters), I removed and replaced, pressing it in pretty hard - bingo! All three sticks work.

PhotoRescue really saved the day. When I got home, I pulled up the second stick and got: C:13:001 error. I was horrified because we had just come back from vacation which included some pictures of my wife's uncle. He had been in bad health and died a week later after we got home. I had to try something as these shots were some of the last made of her uncle. Thanks PhotoRescue.
