Well...
The same blinking E:61:10 appeared on my old Sony DSC-F707 and no more focus or zoom was possible. Sadly missed some GREAT shots of the soon to be endangered Fire Salamander coming out of hiding during the Autumn rain ;(
After reading through most of this thread (couldn't believe it; looking for any reported problems with the "fix") I decided to give it a try by starting with what I would consider two fairly mild taps with the ball of my hand to the underside of the lens barrel (opposite the flash).
And that's all it took! Gone was the error and focus/zoom was back :D
