I have the JVC KD-S690 and managed to change the hour but not the minutes. The M will flash but when I used the volume control to adjust it, it switches to volume instead of changing the minutes.
Anyone have any ideas?

Try resetting the micro. Although this will erase all your presets,
While holding the Select Button press the Standby button and hold it for two seconds.
I'll send you the instruction manual just in case. The reset procedure is on pg 19.
