JPY u are the best, saw your comments regarding this issue with the Sony Trinitron and I have to agree with every other comment regarding your quick-fix and IT TOTALLY WORKED. I cannot thank you enough.......

Hello, I have research with picture problem with Sony Trinitrons, my model is 32" S66 last 3 digits. JPY trick with the screen knob seemed to work a couple of days then it started again. Then I took the boards out and go took close up photos of all the circuit boards and particularly looking for vertical IC, looking for bad solders, dried out caps and such. Just poking at most of the solder joints that seemed important, the TV is 'fixed' somehow. I just knew it was not picture tube because it worked intermittently. So with all the times I took of the cover and replacing it, it was worth 'poking' around the 8 year-old TV and fixing it without knowing which solder joint I poke at. Now I made holes in back cover so I could get to the screen knob back there easily if I ever need correction. Sony TVs has such nice pictures that it is worth keeping if it works. Huy

I started this post forever ago it seems. I too tried the repair on my TV as well and holy shit it works! I just knew it was something stupid like that. That's why I couldn't bring myself to throw it away. In addition to the process decribed I had to turn the screw on my reciever to really fine tune the picture. It's the silver rectangular box that your coax screws into. the screw is whiteish in color. It's been going without error for over two weeks now. I hope it last. Thanks to everyone! JP PS. I'll still never buy another Sony.
