This problem first started after a fall to a concrete floor in a backpack. I have always been able to clear the error code by ejecting the battery and then the memory stick while the unit was turned on. Sort of a hard crash and reboot. That did not work today so I found this site. I tapped it very gently against 2 by 4 on a shelf unit. I tapped it on the tripod mounting screw area as that is going to be the strongest part of the whole camera, plus it should transfer the shock through the whole camera. Thanks to the original poster
