HomeDOES THIS APPEAR TO BE A BAD "CCD" IMAGE SENSOR?? I purchased a new (2004) JVC # GR-SXM260U VHS-C camcorder. Used it less than 30 hours--worked great! Any tapes "previously" recorded on this machine (or another)playback fine through the onboard LCD display, the eyepiece display or from the composite video output---AS NORMAL. However--(NOW)--any image seen by the internal camera (CCD) at "anything" much above Very Low Ambient light levels causes streaking, distortion and bands of blanking or at times no video output at all. These "hashed-up" signals from the "camera" appear at the composite output port, the LCD viewer and the eyepiece viewer and if in record mode--on tape as well---(as expected) Of course this camcorder is now "conveniently" out of warranty! but otherwise like mint-new. Is this a common fault with this particular unit (and probably others)???? Are the "CCD"'s available or do they cost more than the entire unit to replace. I've been a service tech for well over 40+yrs and worked on many vcr's (but not so many "camcorders") does anybody out there have any suggestions other than "trashing" it? Does anybody have a junker/donor with a known good "front end"/ CCD ?? Thank You!!

WOW! I just foud this. I have the same exact problem with mine. Did any of you get yours fixed? teh camera has maybe an hour worth of time on it and it crapped out. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Joe I don't have a remote for mine, and when I play this back, I can't get the menu counter and other video information to be hidden (as if the MENU does not come up at all- only volume and tracking). So, if there's a way to turn off the display without the remote, I'd like to know... I have the same problem with mine. Can you please send me the info for this video camera Model# GR_SXM260U Full info sent via direct e-mail including details of the free repair offer being made on this particular fault provided you are the original purchaser of the device. 100% Sir, this is the problem of DAMAGED ICX296 CCD Regards, DAvy garg |
