Re[4]: JVC Mini DV Camera

Thanks for the information, the store checked the original receipt, yes we were the original owners....I'm sure that this is the case for many of the people that have contacted me since I put the question up for discussion. I can see what you mean about unscrupulous dealers exploiting goodwill; however JVC would be laid open to a very strong civil lawsuit if they were to ignore such a massive problem as this and not offer any help / repairs / recompense to their customers; in the long term it would cost them far more to ignore the problem than to deal with the permissible complainents.

Yes, experience has shown that JVC respond much more quickly to who they consider to be the greatest threat to them, what personally annoyed me about this special out of warranty repair was the fact that in the US they were offered it a few months before similar was done in the UK, inside that time of course many people with the same problem were paying out about nearly half the original purchase price cost of the camcorder to have the repair carried out, and even since they announced the offer in the UK it was, and still is, done in a "very" low profile way by only appearing on their web page, pity for the many that dont have access to the web!
Canada had a similar problem to the UK as far as "not" being offered the free repair at the same time as the US, and Australia still hasn't, even although its the same defective batch of Sony image sensors that were fitted in their models.
