Re: Sony Vaio PCG-V505BX

It's to do with the system battery that lives underneath the keyboard. Take the keybiard out just disconnect the battery for 1 min plug back in and away you go ! Let me know if that fixes it for you. REgards

Thank God it worked for me too. I was having the same problem, Sony Vaio PCG-V505BX working one moment (no battery problem or any other issue for that matter. The next day it was dead in the water, no boot, no power, no nothing. I disconnected & reconnected cmos battery located under keyboard. This reset cmos or something. The first boot there was a bios beep, I had to reset the clock, now everything is fine. Thanks, bent

Thank you. This worked perfectly. I opened the keyboard and took the CMOS battery plug out. Waited about 15 minutes and put everything back together. It came back to life right away. PS: I also pushed the power on button for 15 seconds to drain the PC, as was suggested in another forum.

I have a sony vaio PCG-V505BX that has worked perfectly for about five years. I use constantly and i play online games on it too.Now the systems clock is malfunctionig and I do not want to spent $290 plus to sent it to sony for repair. How can find out for sure if it is the cmos bnsattery? i have tried the bios default setting and it is still doing the same thing showing wrong time How do i install a new cmos battery?
