Have the same problem, my camcorder has just stopped, my brothers stopped about 5 months ago, this being roughly how much time difference there was between us buying the machines. Looked at JVC site says we need receipt for proof of purchase, can't find receipts but have proof as both bought using credit cards. Have you had any luck getting repair?

I managed to get a repair without a receipt.
I just wrote to them giving the serial number and explaining,as we had moved house,the receipt could not be found.
They then contacted me with a repair woucher and details of repair agent.
All in all,from letter to repair,took a couple of weeks.
Camera is working perfectly now.
