Homesony I recieved a Sony DSC-S40 for christmas and have had no bother, until today. I switched it on taking photo's as usual then the screen went blank. It is now a white colour with no picture showing the camera is still taking picturs but not chowing on the screen. Any idea's as to what the problem is and how much it would cost to repair? Many thanks.

Pressing the case under the lcd screen worked for me as well. We only had our camera a year and am relieved that this solved the problem. Hi, I would appreciate it if you could forward the pictures to jfmarta@hotmail.com because my screen just started going white today, thanks! I am having the same problem with my Sony DSC-S40 with the screen going white can you please give me the solution to this? Please please someone send me the file needed to correct the diplay problem with the camera. i have had this problem for 3 months now, help www.depreyswildlife.com/Mods/Sony%20S40/S40LCDWorB.pdf I am having the same blank screen. Can someone please send info to fix this problem? Thanks, Dnaielle I had the same problem and pressed the case - just under the LCD screen on the back and "hey presto" the screen came back on. I'm not really impressed by Sony but at least I've got my camera back for the time being. Best of luck. don't worry bout sending me the pics, because i found the link above for the pdf document. I did the fix and it worked! thanks It seems logical to assume from this that all of the temorary fixes above are all related to the same little plastic tabs inside the case(that you have to cut off). the tabs are situated directly opposite the point where people have been pressing (just underneath and to the right of the LCD screen). It would be pretty logical to assume that by pressing there you are simultaneously pushing the front cover of the case off the electronics inside - releasing the pressure on the contacts that are causing the problem. Tapping the front of the case probably works as well because it jitters the electronics inside for a bit, temporarily releasing the same pressure. What do you learn from this? Both temp solutions will probably work, but the best solution by far is to open up the case and do the fix as stated in the pdf file! could you please send me the pics as well? I know you've been having lots of requests for these why don't you just put them up on the web somewhere and just post the link here? thanks anyway if you can send me the photos. can you send me these as well please? my cameras done this as well.
