(dropped it 6 inches onto a book)After about 5 times the lens started to work and the error went away but it wasn't focusing, 6th time fixed that. I've also pressed the reset button just in case in my attempts to solve the error with settings that I had changed something I shouldn't have.

This technique worked for me as well. I'm glad I tried it. My wife was telling me not to do it. It took about 10 drops to get it to work. However, I noticed that the drop that worked was the drop where I let the bottom of the camera hit the floor from about 2 feet (with the lens retracted). I read on another post that someone just wacked the bottom of his camera ... I believe that is the angle to shock the gears back on track. My camera type is a Sony DSC-W1. Joe Russell |
