Home | First message in thread | Previous messageIt "IS" the HV flyback xformer Sony "OEM" P#8-598-828-00 (original obsolete) "AFTERMARKET" replacements ARE available for $18-$30 each from ElectronixOnline, Suburban Electronics, Tritronics, Technotronic-Dimensions, and others. (the replacement flyback is manufactured by ASTI magnetics as P# AI-2305) This is a "very common", notorious failure with these sets in their 4th or 5th year of life---BELIEVE IT !!!! This HV flyback is located on what everybody on this site is calling the (" D " board) It is the large board located on the bottom LEFT of the set viewed from the rear This board is more correctly known as the "DEFLECTION" board or "SWEEP" board Replacing this transformer will correct at least 90% of the "no-powerup" problems with these sets. I am an electronics service tech / engineering tech with over 40 yrs. experience and recently had one of these sets "given" to me in mint condition but "DEAD" with a blinking timer/standby light. I found the problem in about 15 minutes and replaced the HV flyback in about 45 minutes. It fixed the problem 100% and this projection set now nicely resides in my living room as part of my great home theatre system !! It was a great "FREE" gift!!! *****See this web site's HOME PAGE for more detail I have submitted about this problem with these sets and their "LIKES" !

HELP!!!...Hello I am having a problem with my Sony KP-53HS10 TV...It will work fine for about a half hour then start flickering and shut off!?!...It blinks 5 times with no screen??? The remote control has also stoped working a while ago???...NO Ive checked the batteries, also tryed several new universial remotes...I believe it is the tv control board??? Does anyone have the repair manual that they can forward me??? Thanks in advance! S- I have the same problem and will try this, is there anything else I need to know about this unit? Hearing this problem from lots and lots of people, it must be a defective flaw in the power supply, shorting out and failing Hi Kurt, Aneighbor has given me a Sony KV-36XBR mfd in apr of 2001. An in-law has a tv repair shop, but cannot figure out what the problem is, (no picture or sound) and says that sony stops making replacement parts after 6yrs. He has also had the exact same tv in his shop for 'bout a yr and said he replaced the main board and some kind of transformer???????? .............and no luck. looks very very complicated and was wondering if you might have some suggestions, (because of your knowledge and experience) that would be greatly appreciated..... Thank you, Dale hey i have the same problem, and situation, i was given a free tv as well, that a guy i know got looked at by a shop and they said it was the high voltage/fly back transformer, he just bought a new condo but its tiny so he couldnt use the big tv in there, im trying to replace the transormer, and have ordered one, but would greatly appreciate some step by step help to guide me along, i cant afford to get it done professionally cuz i just moved to the other side of the country and am strapped for cash right now , if you could throw me some words of wisdom itd be great cheers blair I took your advise and ordered the HV flyback xformer but the connections does not come off when I'm trying to replace it. any sugestions?? I want to replace the flyback but cant get the cable disconnected. What is the trick? (Sony Big Screen) Thanks in advance/. Thanks Kurt: I am going to forward this to my "Sony" repair man and see what happens. can you send me a link on where you have posted all of the info on the sony tv the one you repaired for yourself. Mine died and I would like to fix it. thanks for your help and your info. Hello Kurt, Is it easier to replace just the transformer? Is it expensive to replace the board as well? I am having a very similar issue with a KP-61HS30. 5 blinks from standby light when you attempt to power it on. Does the KP61HS30 use the same flyback transformer? If not, does anyone know which one I need? |
