E:61:00 Turn on and off the power again

To fix problem E:61:00, with sony cybershot 7.2 megapixels p 200.

one evening i switched on my Sony cybershot 7.2 mp p200 and E:61:00 started flashing on the screen. after a while I got worried and swicthed it off, but the lens would'nt go in, as it usually does. when i switched it on again, it said turn off and on power again.

I switched off and on for millions of times. I also tried to charge it, took of the memory card, tried to connect it to my laptop, deleted a few pictures of the memory card(to check if the fault was because of no space in memory card or something). but unfortunately nothing worked.

then i looked at the '2meter drop' solution. though i was very afraid to do it, I dropped it from a little height on my thick carpet. it didnt work.
then, I pressed the lens back in forcefully, pressed the back of LCD screen with my palm 2-3 times.
I switched the power on. YAY it worked this time.
its such a relief. must try this.
thanks for advice folks.

I've bought two Sony DSC-T10 cameras. One in America and one in the streets of Moscow. Sadly I had the same E:61:00 message on both at separate times and I couldn't focus the camera so after hitting it

Mine took a little more forceful approach. Hardwood and some hand slapping. What do you have to loose. Worked for me. Thanks !

OMG! thank you sooo sooo much for the tip.
i was worried like all day because it kept saying "to turn off and turn it back on"
i kept pounding it on the ground and the next second, my cousin tapped the lens pretty hard and it turned on.

THANK YOUUU SOO MUCH AGAIN! :D
