For InfoLithium Battery Only error message

Sony Error Message..."For Infolithium Battery Only"

I have several pieces of Sony equipment and exclusively use Infolithium batteries. On my VX2100 Camcorder, I started getting the "For InfoLithium Battery Only" in the LCD and the camera would shut itself down. The surprising thing is I don't even have a battery in the camera as I am using it as a "studio" camera with the AC adapter. The camera works fine with the battery. It will not work with the AC adapter. It will not charge the battery either. And since I have several AC adapters that I can verify are working fine...I have tried them with this camera and I get the same results...with the AC adapter, the camera powers up...gives me the "For InfoLithium Battery Only" code...then shuts off! Does anyone have any ideas about this? Thanks, Chuck

RESET YOUR CAMERA! I have a F828 and I just fix it! The reset button is on inside the battery cover. Turn the camera off and press reset, then turn it on, set the date and you will find it is working again like nothing happened. Success, Adela, Bucharest- Romania

Same problem for Sony F717 digital camera FIX: Hit the "reset" button inside the battery compartment(with camera turned off). Re-power camera and re-set the date/time (that screen is WAITING FOR YOU upon powering up camera). Badda Bing... done!

Hi, i have a son FX1 HDV and bought a Generic battery i think its the size of the NFP970 the fat battery, suddenly one day the screen error "for infolithium only battery"showed up and i couldnt charge it or use it. THE SOLUTION at least on these case and on all other my generic batteries was this, i have to admit i found this out just by coincidence, whe i couldnt use the battery for the camera i tryied to use it to light a lamp then the battery DRAINED OUT AT ONECE when i placed to charge on the camera again IT CHARGED THE BATTERY ALL THE WAY UP OK!!! SO when you get the ERROR just plug a pair of wires to positive and negatives poles on the battery and the other side to a lamp, just for a few secs. The charge it with original charger or the camera itself. DONT OVER CHARGE IT or let it DRAIN OUT or you will get the message again. If that happens just repite the process of drain out with the lamp. I have used this procedure more than fifty times now and has worked everytime. I hope it helps. Best Regards. Please note that Sony batteries have the equivalent to a write protection switch on their batteries, which prevents competitor batteries from being used on their cameras. If you gets this error message, it means that you are using an older model battery. Promptly replace the battery with newer models. It will not show that error message, as they bypass the write protection issue.

it is the battery, not the camera. i have 2 batteries with F828. only 1 battery has this problem. cant use the camera with the bad battery because the camera detects it as a non-infolithium type then shut itself off. charging is impossible either. hope this info helps. but i have no idea how to fix it yet

Hi chuck Did you ever sort out this problem. Because I am having the same problem, but it occurs only with AC Adapter. Works fine with the Battery pack. Thanks Sri
