I have a sony dcr pc109 and got the dreaded e:61:10 message 2 weeks ago. I googled the error and came upon this page. I tried the smack method and it worked initially, but the camera quickly stopped working a few hours later - same message again. Subsequent smacks did not yield any results. Sony wants $269 flat rate to fix the camera. I tried a local camera repair shop - they tried to fix it and said I needed to send it back to sony. I'm stuck deciding whether it's worth it to fix this camera, or just go buy a new one (with an extended warranty).
