It will be interesting to see what result you get, as the nature of the fault would suggest it's possibly a world wide problem.
I will say the symptoms are generally a complete blank screen on the viewfinder and LCD, except for the statement of "lens cap on", but I suspect there has to be situations of serious visual problems without an actual blank screen.
JVC will ask you to photocopy your purchase receipt and send it to them with a covering letter stating the fault, they will then send instructions where to take or send it to, along with their authorisation note for a free repair.
