JVC GR-D271 transfer from tape to PC?

Doug Webb Posted May 27, 2005

I tried to hook camcorder to XP and a Win2000 computers and they are not recognized. Not sure how to transfer from tape to PC

I tried on 2 different PC's and I hook up the USB cable to the camcorder, then to the USB port on the PC and then turn on camcorder to 'Play' mode. Nothing happens, the PC does not recognize the USB connection. Do I need to do anything else? I have not loaded the software that came with the DV camcorder as of yet. I was able to transfer to VHS just fine but want to put on PC so that I can also put on a web site or eventually copy to DVD's. Please help, am lost and going on a 2 week vacation and would like to know this have it working before we leave.

Well, I thought I was just blond and couldn't figure out how to transfer the tape to the PC for my grandson's project. Did you get a solution?

Did you ever find out how to transfer to the PC. I am attempting to help my son with his JVC and we are having the same problem on XP. IF you did, please let me know. Thanks.

Doug, You cannot transfer from DV tape to PC using the USB port. A firewire connection is required to achieve that goal. You can purchase an acceptable firewire card which comes with Ulead software from Newegg.com for around $15.00. I am assuming your camcorder has a firewire port; if not, I'm afraid you will be unable to transfer the DV tape to PC. Good luck!
