Sony DCR TRV 250 digital camcorder

Deepak Patel Posted Apr 09, 2005

Sony DCR TRV 250 digital camera is a very third class quality digital camera because

I had bought it recently few months ago means in June 2004 and after 10 months when I tried to started camera view finder shows black screen. So I tried LCD which also shows black screen. I told sony technical support they said that CCD must be changed. I told them that it is under warranty then they told me that only 3 months warranty for CCD. So I advice people who rely on Sony. Dont' buy any Sony things.

I have a DCR-TRV38 with same problem. Now just under 2 years old. I am hoping SONY will come clean, but not expecting much. Recommend all with this problem contact SONY AND look at CNET board for info on possible class action suit.

I have the same problem with the same camera. If I had the CCD and board, I could put it in myself, it only takes 5 min to get the camera apart. The CCD and chip come seperately and I am not willing to attempt that soldering job. I don't mind spending the money for the two parts soldered. Is there anyway Sony would ante up and give some practical customer service in this circum.. and possibly others as well.

Please go to CNET board http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-7594-0.html?forumID=59&threadID=51594&messageID=614342 I also suggest everybody report this issue to www.bbb.org. They handle the defective products from any company. When you file a report there, you need to fill in the company's address. I got it from a SONY agent on the phone. It's ''Sony Custermer Services, 12451 Gateway Blvd, Fort Myers FL 33913''.

I bought a DCR-TRV250 BRAND NEW just over a year ago, I've never used the camera that much (less than 4 hours total recording time) and I'm having the same problem. I can play back previously recorded tapes with no problem but when I try to record there's just a black screen. I "reset" the camera as the manual says and have had no luck. I just thought i'd see if there were any similar problems, as it turns out it seems there are as many if not more of these units that are FAULTY as there were good. I'll never purchase another Sony device again. If anyone has any luck getting anything out of Sony or some way I can fight back please let me know.

I have a DCR-TRV33 with the exact same problems - 15 months old and on my 5th tape...disgusting to say the least. I will never purchase another Sony product again.

Please note that you are not laone. Lot of people are having the same problem. A lawyer is filing a class action lawsuit against. Find a link to this forum below: http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-7594-0.html?forumID=59&threadID=53316&messageID=635769 Let us fight this.

As a reply to Mr Garg.. A diagnosis is not neccessary, because as Deepak said in the original posting- the problem is the CCD video processor. This was also told to me by Strauss Repair Center (in Wash DC) which is a reputable camera repair company.. and they diagnosed it for free!
